Modern Day Woman Lives Like A Victorian

What woman would want to return to the Victorian era and live like a true Victorian?

Her name is Sarah Chrisman, and despite her (very) retro lifestyle, she’s been taking the internet by storm.

Though she’s had a passion for the Victorian age since she was a child, it wasn’t until after Ms. Chrisman got a Victorian corset that she decided she wanted to live the full Victorian lifestyle. This means no modern clothing or technology. Well, for the most part. She does have a website and a Facebook page.

“Some people feel they were born in the wrong place, or in a body of the wrong gender,” Chrisman says. “I have simply always felt that I was born in the wrong time, and there is no passport nor surgical procedure to help one of my particular condition,” she told XO Jane.
So to treat her “condition” it’s all 18th century all the time.
Her husband is on board. The two of them live as any other couple, despite their vintage trappings. “The wonderful thing is, our friends are friends — our interests are still the same. We still enjoy discussing academic matters and things like hiking,” she says, via Oddity Central.
Chrisman is also a licensed massage therapist. “It’s a fairly Victorian occupation, although many modern people don’t realize it,” she writes on her website, The Chrisman Collection. She’s also a published author — she’s wrote a book about her Victorian life.
