It was night of epic proportions, and one that will certainly go down in
history, as Dubai set a world record amidst all the razzle dazzle and
fanfare this city has mastered down to an art form.
While The Palm Jumeirah and The World Islands played host to a glittering display of fireworks that achieved the colossal task of setting off over 400,000 fireworks across 100km of shoreline, in just six minutes to set a new Guinness World Record, at the other end of the city stood the towering Burj Khalifa.
Hosted by Emaar Properties, this year’s festivities broke 2012’s record of 1.7 million visitors at Downtown Dubai.
The Dubai World Record team have roped in the men and women at Grucci to produce an unimaginable programme for tonight, including a laser etching of an aerial countdown, a pixel burst flying falcon and a UAE flag and a ‘sunrise’ at midnight.
