BLOODY SUNDAY In Edo State: Students Of Auchi State Polytechnic Murdered In Cult Clash


Edo State - Six persons were reportedly killed in Auchi, Etsako West LGA of Edo State, on Sunday, in what is believed to be a cult-related attack. A number of other persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
Some of the victims are believed to be students of the Federal Polytechnic.
According to eyewitnesses, eight unidentified members of one cult group engaged in a shooting spree with the rivaling group.
Three middle-aged men were shot dead at Iyekhei community which is in the vicinity of the Polytechnic's main campus. The cultists stormed the Habiba Hotel, demanding to see the director. The manager of the hotel was shot in the hand in the process. One of the customers died on the spot as he was was shot in the head while trying to help the manager. The latter was identified as Shaka Yesufu, 45. He was at the hotel's bar when the attack started.

Another victim was shot dead at Alasa Street.
The remains of some of the deceased have been taken away by the police. Relatives of the late Shaka have taken away his body for burial.
Fearing for their lives, local residents fled the premises. Police spokesman Moses Eguavoen is yet to be briefed on the matter.
