Speaking at the Nigerian
Entertainment Conference (NEC) last week the mother of four claimed
that she had never been among those who keep company either with
government or politicians, Vanguard reports.
One of the most influential people of 2013, according to TIME magazine, Omotola said:
“Somebody on a blog a
few days ago wrote that there are Nollywood personalities who are
friends with politicians, sharing the national cake together. I,
Omotola, have never campaigned or partied with any government, so don’t
mention my name among those who do that. I have suffered enough for
refusing to party with them and take ‘Ghana Must Go’ back home, so don’t
let me suffer more,” she stated.
She also added that if a celebrity wished to be friends with
politicians, one should do so without making connection between
politicians’ activities and the celebrity’s brand.Probably her remark is the reaction to the attack made by singer Etcetera, who mentioned Omotola among other popular personalities allegedly making friends with politicians - the statement he made right after the tragicNyanya bombing.
