Maid jailed for having sex outside of marriage.

A maid who suffered a miscarriage was arrested at a hospital in Abu Dhabi for having sex outside marriage.

The woman was taken to hospital after her Emirati employer found her bleeding heavily.
Staff at the hospital, in the suburbs of Abu Dhabi, were obliged to report the maid to police under UAE law that prohibits unmarried sex. Police are still investigating the circumstances of the miscarriage.

The woman, whose husband is living in Bangladesh, was allegedly having an affair with another Bangladeshi man who worked at a neighbouring villa.
The man was also detained and confessed during questioning that he was having a sexual relationship with the woman. He will also be brought before the courts to face a charge of having an illegal affair.
The woman’s lawyer, Mohammed Al Azazi, said his client will be appearing in Abu Dhabi Criminal Court later this month.
She is expected to plead guilty to having sex outside marriage because of the weight of evidence against her.
Al Azazi said his client was three months pregnant when she had the miscarriage, but it had been seven months since she last travelled back to Bangladesh to see her husband.
This case follows a similar incident six weeks ago. In late August, a Filipina runaway maid was arrested at Ahalia Hospital after she was taken there following a near-fatal miscarriage. She was detained on charges of having an illegal affair.
