The man, identified as Alias Edu was said to have taken ill after his wife’s death and collapsed during the ceremony which took place at the Navy Town in the Alakija area of Lagos.
Edu, a naval officer, lost his wife a while ago and never recovered from his bereavement.
Leadership reports:
Edu who was described as a navy petty officer loved the deceased so much that since Mrs. Edu died in their village in Ogoja, Cross Rivers State he had not been himself.
Her wake-keep was fixed for yesterday and many people including family members, colleagues and friends of the officer were present.
The final burial of the woman in the village was fixed for January 30 this year. As music was blaring and guests were dancing to the rhythm of the music, the bereaved officer collapsed, it was learnt and
before help could come, the officer gave up the ghost, leaving behind their three children.
The music was hurriedly put off and only the wailing of people attracted more sympathisers to the scene. The family members were also confused on what to do next with some of them asking whether to bury the couple together or do so separately in their village.
