3 children sent back to relatives in Egypt from UAE after parents' arrest in Dubai

Dubai authorities agreed to exempt three Egyptian children from overstaying fees and sent them to relatives in their home country after their parents were arrested in the emirate in financial cases, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
The boy and two sisters, aged between 7 and 11 years, had been left on their own at their apartment in Dubai for two days before they were taken by a neighbor, who volunteered to look after them, Emarat Al Youm Arabic language daily said.
The neighbours sheltered the children for 10 days before they decided to inform the Egyptian consulate about the problem.
“Immigration authorities in Dubai did their best to end the suffering of the children by exempting them from overstay fees and sending them home,” the paper said, quoting Egyptian consul Shareef Al Badawi.
He said authorities have also issued them travel permits and the children, who were later flown to Egypt and handed over to their aunt.
